I write this at the close of a great battle; one which not even the Faithful truly believed would happen in my lifetime. The war itself was being fought by my grandparents, long before my birth. The nights grow long and cold, and the ground is covered in bright red leaves like blood spilt from a battle. We must bring in the final harvest before the evil fae claim their share and leave us nothing. Then we will rejoice with lavish feasts, and light a fire in each hearth, which fills the air with smoke and spices and apples to ease the cold, crisp Autumn weather from our hearts. Go to Tara's Hill, children, light the fire to bring the new year now the old is dead and gone.

The New Third World

A mother walks through piles of rubble, the streets of her childhood now unrecognizable. Her face is grief stricken, eyes sunken in from lack of sleep making her look years older than her age. Two children, scantly clad, in her arms clinging to her shoulders; fear fills their dark, innocent eyes and tears stain their cheeks. They don't understand what they did to lose their homes. Their lives will never be the same. The picture reminds me of the commercials urging people to send money to third world countries by showing them images of starving children on the streets. I wonder if anyone has ever sent money to those charities:

Spinning around like no one cares on our synchronized dancing chairs. Just a cellist, a tuba player and a trumpeter with nothing better to do; we don't want to sit around and brew about our petty disagreements, so we spin our cares away all day long and on into the night not wondering about how we could make things right in the world if we just tried. The leaves begin to fall to my feet, vibrant colors: red, yellow, orange. They slowly turn, dancing and twirling falling swiftly, painting the sky as they plummet to the earth. My Bio

I have way too many interests for my own good (one of the wonderful things about having insane ADD), meaning that I've spent way more time in university than my family feels appropriate... the internet also heightens this. The other joy of ADD is that I get huge ideas for novels and academic papers and rarely finish them; I'm trying to get over that latter part, but it's really difficult. I'm mostly a musician, which makes putting things up here difficult, but I love photography and creative writing as well... I just mostly suck at visual arts.
General interests: ethnomusicology, cello, singing, cultural anthropology, religious studies, traveling the world, all things Irish/Scottish/Manx, Gaelic polytheism, Renaissance faires, sustainable living, permaculture, homesteading, queer theory, genderbending, LGBT issues, good debate (I love talking about what polite society says we shouldn't, more fun).
Music: I love a pretty broad range of music. Classical (though ironically, not much from the actual "Classical" period), traditional world music (especially anything polyphonic), chant, folk, filk, rock, anything nifty with a cello, jazz, folk-fusion, soundtracks, musicals, symphonic metal...

tossing around ideas

I've been restarting a couple of the old attempted novels I've found lying about. One is kind of a fantasy/sci-fi hybrid, taking place in futuristic Ireland.  It uses a lot of faery lore and involves the whole 'attempt at world domination' plot.  If it ever gets done, it'll be my epic novel.  I had a couple of chapters done at one point, but I've totally changed the direction I was going to go with it.  One major plot difference is that the woman at the beginning, who was originally the main character, will now end up becoming the mother of the main character... I hope she doesn't mind the slight lowering of her status :)  I think I'm going

I'm loading all of my old poetry on here, mainly to organize...and well, that's it really. My mom's friend gave me a beautiful journal for my birthday, so I'll have something to carry around with me while I'm in Korea this year and write things down.  We'll see if my creativity can make a reappearance here shortly.

I realize it's been ages since I've put anything on here not because I've been neglecting this believe me, I wish that was the case but alas! I haven't written anything in ages until now... you taught me that I am the only one who can save me and that is the greatest gift and curse I've ever been given hmph, maybe that'll get the creative juices going again... we shall see :
